Adjournment requests must be in writing and will not be considered by phone. The parties must be notified of all adjournment requests. The Judge will consider all requests at the call of the calendar on the scheduled court date.
The Courthouse is open Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All business must be commenced by 4:30 p.m. Calendars are called at 9:30 a.m.

The Nassau County District Court generally handles civil matters seeking monetary damages up to $15,000, small claims matters with monetary damages up to $5,000, commercial small claims matters with monetary damages up to $5,000, and landlord tenant matters concerning housing proceedings and evictions.
The District Court has authority to hear criminal matters involving trial jurisdiction over misdemeanors, violations and infractions, preliminary jurisdiction over felonies and traffic tickets charging a crime.
